The Passion of Street Vendor's Food
18 January, 2007
You must be not Indonesian if you say you don't like "gorengan", kind of fried snacks you can get easily from the vendors along sidewalks or streets in Indonesia. "Gorengan" could be from tempeh, casava, tofu, etc. I believe many of you who live in foreign country may never cease to recall how delicious these snacks to have particularly when you take a coffee break or have a cup of tea. I remember I used to snack them almost every other day at my work. Just asking the office boy to buy some, next 10 minutes I have been enjoying myself with "gorengan" and a cup of tea. Well, you would say how easy to prepare such cooking as what I should do every time I want to have them but the taste, don't tell me, is bit different. Somehow it is less tasty than the one I get from street vendors. Don't know whether the germ or vendor's sweat get involved to this taste, who never knows! Here some pictures of "gorengan" I've ever cooked.
"Gorengan": the best Indonesian snacks ever!
A Snapshot

I can't believe this particular paparazzi always pursues me wherever I am going to, whatever I am doing at and whoever I am going with. He comes near or around me all the time. He doesn't understand that people need privacy. Take a look one of his shots here. I was with a friend from MD at the time. Not bad, though!
New Year's Eve: "Bakso" Monsters
12 January, 2007
That day the two monsters filled up their stomach with exotic homemade-meatball soup called "bakso" before heading to a friend's house located in a metropolitan area right next to DC.

Of course taking a metro is the practical way to get there. However, it needs me to drive more or less 45 minutes to find the close-by station. The two monster got lots of talk and laugh during the trip and while they were in friend's house. Unfortunately, the two monster didn't get a chance to meet a sick friend who lives nearby the host friend. It was so late when the two monster got home but they were still hungry for food and thirsty for more talks.

Then they enjoyed again another bowl of spicy "bakso" in the middle of the night, meanwhile the hubby of the house had been snoring like a lion in the bed *Zzzzzzzzzz* (hihihi..kidding!).
Ps. Yup, a good friend from WV and I, myself, are the two monster who are craving for Indonesian food every time we get together with some other Indonesian friends.
Love or Hate?
08 January, 2007

The feud between Rosie and The Donald can't get enough but much nastier. It is funny how we will not see the true skins of professionalism until they are under heat such as this recent controversy. One is over-educated and one is less-educated on the other hand. However, there is no border between them when it comes to personal attacks. They are acting just like spoiled children. He shouldn't have fired her back with all the nasty things he has said about her. Seems he turns down himself to low class people. Is it some kind of a little ad to his tv-show "The Apprentice"?.. who never knows! To see his opponent says things that come out from her big mouth, I am not surprised at all. She did the same thing to some other famous people. My advice: Be grown-up, guys! You both need to act as a professional.
Speaking about The Apprentice, the premiere show last night was really cool. It has a different view and different sets. This first day competition ended up firing one candidate named Martin who works as attorney and professor as well. This proves that being highly (over) educated doesn't mean you get competent enough working with the team in business practice.
New Year, Lazy Me
05 January, 2007
A new year is in the air once again. Many of you, I am sure, are kind of supposed to have a new spirit to welcome a new year, to begin a new life, to start your own business, to develop or improve the way you live your life, etc.

Unfortunately, mine is not stimulated yet to do so. I wish I had something that could trigger me much to look the best in the New Year. Any idea, anyone? Anyhow, one of my set-targets which has been supposedly done before year 2006 comes to an end is finally accomplished. Now, as you see right here, a new design brings a new color to this page.
