Thanksgiving and Granny
27 November, 2006
To me, they literally have connection each other. First, It was the first time ever I met Granny in Thanksgiving 2 years ago. I've never thought that moment would be the first and the last time for me to see her. Second, Granny passed away 2 days after Thanksgiving last Saturday. Sadly to say, we couldn't attend her funeral service this Tuesday in her hometown Tennessee due to hubby's schedule. I couldn't explain in details how wonderful she was to me. But, yes I have to admit that she was such a fun-funky-kind grandmother whom you could talk anything with. We both agree that she is our favorite grandmother who always looked down to earth in way of her life. Goodbye Granny, may you rest in peace in Father's house. We will see you there someday. We always love you, miss you and remember you.
Should Be Turkey?

No, I don't think there is a significant rule what you have to cook on Thanksgiving. Well.. as commonly known, turkey is the most popular meal that most people should have on their table of feast. However, turkey is not a must-have on my cooking lists. This time we didn't celebrate Thanksgiving day with our big family in North Carolina as we usually did. It means I must have been the in-charge (chef) of the house who will decide what to cook and what to eat.

Our menu was just like what any other people eat during the holiday except turkey. Yeah, we had Cornish hen instead. For some reason, we both like eating a tasty small bird better than a plain-tasted giant bird.
Guess what? The next day, I cooked rendang (beef curry) and lontong sayur (rice cake in curry soup) as what I always claim that my holiday is never complete without eating Indonesian spicy cooking.
Ps. The recipe of the pomegranate-juice-coating Cornish hens is actually not a courtesy of mine. I adopt it from
Paula Deen: Honey Game Hens plus I add the marinade with the unseeded pomegranate juice when it comes to baking time.
Political or Dancing Races?
08 November, 2006
Which one is interesting? You decide it yourself.
The semi-finale of Dancing With The Stars was getting real hot last night, meanwhile both of big political party fired up expecting to win the election. Those of you who favored one big party to win again after a dozen years control of the House must be upset this morning to see the voting results. My advice is "forget about it, let's fun with DWTS!" Ain"t that fun to see their fantastic dances? Despite whoever is gone tonight, I have to say that all semifinalists are incredibly great. Can't wait to see the finale next week. Bring it on dancers!!
One Nice Day
07 November, 2006
That day was a PERFECT day in the fall. Why perfect? I believe most of you would notice that this fall is not as usual as it was. It has started cooler than ever since the beginning of the season, though the winter was still 3 months ahead. Other States in middle west and up north were even getting snow in the end of October and this early November. So, once we figured out that day was perfect for walking, we decided to go hiking in Great Falls, VA. The place is nice for picnic and relaxing. I always like being there and I've never been getting bored coming to this place (been there five times now). I enjoyed every single minutes looking at the scene of the falls and walking on the track as well. It was such a joy to my day. Also, I had an extra joy by looking around the colorful trees with all the leaves turning colors and falling to the ground. What a gorgeous day!!
Not Bad!
06 November, 2006
Another trouble happened again. Only three of us plus Diane, the leader and musician, were singing in the church choir yesterday at 10.30 a.m. mass. Some of the group were excited (I was too) to join children's choir at 9 a.m. mass but I don't like to get up too early in the morning for Sunday morning mass.

Remember my story about
"terrible duet"? I've ever said I won't make it any more, I'd rather sitting in the congregations than singing bad on the stage, however this time I've found it was not as bad as I thought. Although I got bit trouble in the middle singing the third song when I felt something lock my throat and suddenly my voice sounded bit froggy, I was not panicked at all. I know it was embarrassing since the microphone right in front of me. Thank God it didn't happen too long and He gave my sound back to normal. One thing I learn from such experience, even this is the worst one I would say since the bishop was there and most of the songs were new to me, that God is always with us no matter what and listen to what He says "Be Not Afraid"!!
Ps. This picture was taken a long time ago. I was talking with Monica and Barbara when hubby took it in the end of the mass
